BFP - 28.6.11
Tonight I decided to do a home pregnancy test. I was on cycle day 32. I had been having 26 day cycle for the past 4 months and felt worried that I may have had a cyst back that was causing my periods to run late. I picked Hubby up from work and told him what I was thinking and that I wanted to pick up a test on the way home so that I could eliminate pregnancy and go from there. We had planned our Frozen cycle in 1 month and I was feeling worried that after it had been put off for a year that I was going to have to push it back more and I was going to have to have surgery again. I went down to the local corner store and grabbed the only brand they had which I was unfamiliar with. I went to pay for it when the young women behind the counter said, "Are you hoping for a positive result." I found this to be a very strange question to be asked. Of course being the open person I am I said, "I have been trying for 3 years, so a positive would be great." She then responded with, "I hope it is, Good Luck." I left thinking, Whatever! We drove home and I went straight to the bathroom and decided to just get it over with. After always having 1 lonely line over the years I held little to know hope that there was going to be 2 lines. I read the instructions and POAS! then reached to grab a piece of toilet paper to place it on and before I could even put it down the wee moved across the stick, BAM one line, BAM second line. My reaction. B___ get the fuck in here. Hubby hadn't realised what I was doing and told me he forgot I had even brought the test. I looked at him and said, "I'm fucking pregnant." Hubby looked at the stick and said, "Where are the instructions?" He looked at the paper carefully why I blurt out something like, "I think I know how they work." After examining the paper next to the stick, he smiled. My first phone call mins later was to my parents. I got them on the phone at the same time and blurted it out. Then we rang Hubbies Mum. Followed but my sister and brother who supported me through my 3 year battle and also IVF. I never thought I would ever see the 2nd line on one of those things. I never thought I would ever get pregnant. But I have and naturally at that. I have been battling Infertility for over 3 years, been through 2 IVF's, had 2 operations to remove endo, done a number of natural therapies. And even though I was doing acupuncture and herb (Which I have done before) I honestly think the reason I have fallen is because I have let go of that anger that Infertility gives you and I accepted my life for what it was and was HAPPY :)
Blood Test Results
Today the 1st July I received my blood test results from my GP. My HCG level was 1800. Which is dead in the middle for 5 weeks. She was very happy with the results, as was Hubby and I.
6 Weeks
Today I'm booked in to see my Obstetrician who is also my fertility specialist. I really happy he is a OB because I'm familiar with him and don't have to try to get use to him. Also he knows my history and I know him. I'm nervous about this pregnancy and in particular if it is ectopic. The nurse booked me in for an early 6 week scan because apparently I'm a high rick pregnancy due to my endo and infertility. It was a really special day as not only was it my birthday but also the appointment to have our first scan was booked in around the time I was born. That morning of the scan I vomited my breakfast up after a number of morning that week of feeling sick. So at 11am we went to Dr T where he did the u/s. The first thing he said was is there one or two. TWO I didn't even think about this. He said 1. I said, Is it were it should be and he replied yes. Finally I could breath after holding my breath for a week and a half. Then he was silent. My mind started to wonder. He then pointed to the screen and said,"See that tiny white spot that's moving up and down." I squint and say "Yes." He then said, "That's the heartbeat." WHAT! OMG! I told him I had morning sickness that morning and he told me that that was a good sign and that women with morning sickness are less likely to m/c. I left feeling a lot less stressed.
7 Weeks
I have been very down the past few days. I'm just worried about my baby. I had the flu shot which I felt like a GP in my clinic forced on me. Apparently it is safe and is a must when your pregnant. I'm also feeling sick all day. I have been doing little vomits and lots of dry reaching. I know it is a positive sign to have morning sickness aka all day sickness and without it I would be worried. But really feeling sick is the pits. I'm looking forward to my 8 week scan.
8 Weeks
I had an ultra sound on Friday which I thought was an 8 week scan but it turns out I was 2 days ahead of myself and I'm not 8 weeks till Sunday. I'm really happy because Dr T gave me the exact due date which is the 4th March 2012. Hubby was also super excited before, during and after this appointment. We saw something that resembled a head and the heart in the middle of the blob. We also got to hear the heart beating for a few second. It was amazing. Last appointment my doctor wasn't very excited but this appointment was soooo different. He asked about what find of labour I wanted, gave me lots of info, asked about the "downs" test which we have declined as we would not aboard it if it was so what is the point to the test. Also we got to take home a goody bag full of samples and the most amazing thing.... our babies first photo. It doesn't look like much but hey it means the world to me. Hubby was so cute he took it to work and showed his boss and I took it to my acupuncturist. (Yes I'm still having weekly treatments.) My sister did up a pregnancy album with journey entries and photos when she was PG. So yesterday after the scan I brought a little album and next friday we are going to sit together and start mine. My sister is very creative and likes to scrapbook. I on the other hand have failed at all my attempts to scrapbook and will need lots of guidance. Who are we kidding, I'll probably choose the decorations and she will probably put it together.

Well this week has been some big changes emotionally. I feel like I'm finally starting to get excited about having a baby. Also the sickness has slightly eased. So instead of being sick 1/2 the day, I'm only sick on and off. I was a little unwell (Heavy head) on Thursday and Friday so I visited to my regular GP, who gave me the once over and said it is a bit of a cold and to rest. Which is exactly what I did on Friday and I woke up after a 2 1/2 hour nap and realised I had slept though and missed my acupuncture appointment. Opps! My acupuncturist was fine. Just said it was best to have had the big sleep and she will see me next week. As you can tell the tiredness is starting to kick in and I'm starting to wake 2 to 3 times a night to go to the toilet. That's only going to get worse. But I'm actually happy. Doing lots of research on baby products on the net. I'm not buying ANYTHING till I'm 12 weeks. Then after 12 weeks I will know exactly what I want to buy and go crazy after that. I have started a spreadsheet on my computer with what I need, then a column with the type/brand I like then a column of where it is sold (If specific) and the cost. So far I think I have chosen the bottles I want (As a back up to Breast feeding) and the pram. It a long list of things to get so hopefully that keeps me busy so the next 3 weeks go by quickly.
10 weeks
I have 2 weeks till I hit that magic 12 weeks. Oh the dreaded 2ww, Oh how I hate thy. I'm feeling a little tired and b00bs are sore. Ok, ok I know I said I would never complain about being pregnant but I really think that me and pregnancy are not a perfect couple. I'm hating my lack of effort in day to day tasks. Meals can be a hit and miss, housework is real effort as I'm tired and have been having headaches and I can only take panadol which in my option are as good as swallowing tic tacs. I think my neck is a little out which is causing the headaches. I have booked a physio appointment on friday. Hopefully that will ease the tension. The pregnancy is going well itself as I have seen some major changes in my body and what was once my little pot belly (pre PG) is now turning into what can only be described as a baby bump. I'm still trying to hide it from ppl but I'm really running out of room in my clothes and can't really hide it. I think some ppl are suspicious but too polite to say anything. I now can only do up 2 pairs of my pants and elastic wasted pants (classy) are now my new best friend. I also am struggling with some tops as my b00bs are bigger and some top and bras are getting a little too snug. I think I might need a clothes shopping day. Might wait the 2 weeks. Don't want to tempt fate.

Well this week I have been feeling a lot better. Had a few night vomits but besides that I'm going ok. I have been think more and more about the baby the last few days and how it will be having a baby in the house. I really want to be a calm and soothing mum but I'm so worried about how I will deal with the lack of sleep. I have been watching some baby DVD's that we got given and I'm getting lots of info. However I feel there is this pressure from people who keep say that it will be a easy for me as I have worked in childcare for almost 12 years but it's different. I never really looked after a newborn except of a few hour with my sister and I really don't know what to do. I guess no new mum does really.
12 weeks
After feeling so sick and worried for the first weeks of my pregnancy, I'm finally feeling good. I felt so negative and unsettled in those weeks that I'm sure it was reflected in my posts. I guess the BFP was a big shock and I didn't know what to do or think. Also I'm talking about the baby more and Hubby and I are making plans to turn the spare room (AKA junk room) into a nursery.
We went to 3 baby stores over the weekend and can I just say that the amount of choice in Prams is completely nuts. One store had close to 100 prams. We just felt lost. However we did end up deciding on one thing, a car seat, which wasn't hard. It was the most popular one sold because of the safety features and we got it on sale for $100 off. We have started a list of things we need which isn't too long as my sister is lending me lots of baby stuff she has. We mostly have to buy big ticket items like a cot, a chest of draws and the dreaded Pram. Then just a few bits and pieces.Overall I'm feeling positive and trying really hard to relax and enjoy this pregnancy.
13 weeks
Had a few niggling cramps this week. These have been a little worrying but my sister reassures me that it's just the baby growing and it is totally normal. It just scares me. I also started back my wheat free diet 2 weeks ago as I was getting bloated and feeling horrible. I forgot how much better I feel when I don't eat wheat. I went off wheat back in June last year but started slowly introduction stuff back in March this year but I think I'm best to cut it out. I feel better and I'm sure it's better for the bub too.
Week 14
I can't believe I made it. I'm in my second trimester. Woo Hoo! I'm really looking forward to my 15 week 5 day appointment to hear bubs heart beat again and I'm especially looking forward to my 19 week 5 day appointment as it will be a scan. Since we haven't had a scan since 7weeks 5 days I'm busting to see them. Also we will hopefully find out the gender. 5 people have said a girl and 2 a boy. My acupuncturist said my pulse is telling her it is a girl. It will be interesting to see if she is right. Also on friday night at 14 weeks 5 days I think I may have felt the baby move. I was sitting still on the lounge and as the TV came on loud I felt a flutter in my lower abdominal like nothing I had ever felt before. I guess if I feel it again I will know if it was or wasn't the baby.
Week 15
We had an appointment with Dr T on Friday. He felt my stomach, took my blood pressure and we also heard the baby's heartbeat. It was 160bpm. He was very happy with my size and the babies heartbeat. Our next appointment is in 4 weeks. I'm really looking forward to this as we will see our baby on the u/s screen for the first time in 12 weeks. Dr T will also do a full check of the baby. Heart, brain, size ect. Also we are hoping to find out the sex. Oh I hope it's in the right position and not shy.
Week 16
Went shopping with mum this week and brought some new maternity shorts and also some bras. I was shocked to discover one of them is size 14E. Holly smokes! If this is pre milk what is it going to be like when the milk does come in.
Week 17
Had a few uncomfortable cramps and pressure this week. I have been told by most people that it is completely normal and that the bub is just growing and stretching. Still scary when it is happening.
Week 18
Well I think it is official. I'm 99% sure I felt bub kick. I felt a pulling feeling inside so I sat on the lounge to rest and then a few mins later I felt that flutter feeling I have been feeling on and off for a few weeks so I put my hand on my belly where the flutter was and then felt a little push feeling inside. Oh I love the feeling of MY BABY kicking.
Week 19
Well I have been feeling great this week. I have been feeling the baby move more which is a big reassurance. I sometimes can tell where in my belly they are hiding. They seem to like sitting on my bladder a lot. Must be extra bouncy for them, especially when it full.
Week 20
Well we went for our scan on Friday and we were over the moon to see our healthy baby on the monitor. My placenta is sitting low,1.7cm from my cervix. It needs to be 2am for a natural birth however 90% move but if it doesn’t than I will have to have a C-section. We were also given the news that I’m expecting a little baby girl. Hubby was so excited. He had this week holiday and went crazy buying some beautiful girls outfit. I must admit I had a little shop too.
Week 21
The bub’s kicks are getting stronger, which is wonderful to feel. She likes to have a little stretch and kick just as I lay in bed at night. She hasn’t woken me through the night with kicks yet but I’m sure she will in time.
Week 22
Got given lots of beautiful clothes baby girl close from my SIL this week. I soaked, washed, dryed and sorted over 6 loans of baby clothes. They are all in plastic bags in the nursery. Also had the first bit of colostrum come out this week which I was fascinated by.
Week 23
Hubby felt bub kick again. I think because her movements are getting stronger it is getting easier for him to feel them. Also washed bubs linen this week. It all mostly white which I love. Also brought my first Modern Cloth Nappy this week. It is a Gro Via Hybrid. It was very exciting and I look forward to using it when bub is a few months old.
Week 24
My 2 year old nephew came with me to my check up with Dr on Friday. Everything was good and when he was finished my nephew lifted up his top and said, “My tummy.” SO CUTE!!!
Week 25
Felt like I was lacking energy the past few weeks so I went to the GP and got a blood test done to check my iron levels. Turns out they were low and now I’m on iron tablets. Also Hubby is cooking heaps of red meat for me. Also had the baby’s furniture delivered this week. I was so excited that it arrived that we put it together that night. It looks great.
Week 26
We had the wardrobe door installed this week, which really gave the baby room that finished look. Now I can start to get everything organized and start decorating. Yeah!
Week 27
Been having a bit of trouble sleeping this week. Been a bit off in the tummy and just had a lot of stretching and pulling feelings. Glad to have made it to the end of Trimester 2, as I'm now in the home stretch. Yeah!

Week 28
I had my Breastfeeding classes on the weekend, which Mum came with me. I was extremely interesting and both Mum and me learnt heaps. I have decided to let the baby "self latch on" after birth instead of trying to putting them on. Also feel that I want to adopt some aspect of the attachment theory style of parenting.
Week 29
The baby gets these energy boosts and has a big stretch and kick then she goes quiet and still for a bit. I love feeling her move and especially when I can feel a little bump under my skin, which I’m guessing might be an arm or leg. I can also feel the lumps move across my belly, which is really weird.
Week 30
I was 30 weeks on Christmas Day, which was lovely. It was so nice enjoying Christmas with thoughts of our next Christmas with the Baby. Hubby and I also revealed the babies name to the family on Christmas.
Week 31
We had an appointment with Dr T on Friday. He did a scan and even though the placenta had moved into a safe position and the baby was in the right position (Head down, bum up) I’ve been booked in for a C-section on 21st February. He measured her and she is over 5 pounds and most babies double their weight from 32 weeks till 40 weeks, so I’m looking at her being 10 pounds plus. He said that there is a risk with big babies to get stuck and having shoulder or hip problems. So he suggested a C-section is a safer delivery. I’m a little disappointed that I won’t be having a natural birth but at the end of the day I just want her out the safest possible way.
Week 32
We started our Parenting classes at the hospital last week. There are 3 classes in total including birth, baby care and breastfeeding. I’m really enjoying them and we are learning lots.
Week 33
I had my final week of work this week. It is so weird to be unemployed. I will have just over 4 weeks off till bub comes which is great as I still have some bits and pieces to do around the house. I am certainly nesting, even shoes on the floor is bugging me. The last week working was a struggle, my body is tired and achy and I’m just not getting good sleep at night. But I guess that is nature’s way of preparing me for night feeds.
Week 34
Had bubs car seat installed this week. I feel a lot better now it's done. Also just finishing off some bit and pieces around the house which feels great. Starting to get tired and not sleeping well but still feeling good.
Week 35
Today was my baby shower. My sister and mum did a wonderful job decorating with pink balloons, catering with yummy and cute food and organising wonderful games to play. I felt very special and so grateful to finally be at MY BABY SHOWER. It was only a small gathering of 15 ladies but that was how I wanted it. I was showered with some lovely presents for my bub.Week 34

Week 35
Week 36
Went to bed on Monday night with a tight stomach and a few Braxton hicks. By 2am I was unable to sleep due to the regular tightening. Got up and had a warm shower then ended up ringing Mum. We both timed the contractions and I then decided to wake Hubby and ring the hospital. The midwife said to come and get checked. We went in and I was having regular contraction and had slightly high blood pressure. I was monitored but after a few hours the contractions topped and I also was only dilated 1 cm. They kept monitoring my blood pressure then at 7am the contractions had eased and my blood pressure had gone down. Dr T came in and sent me home. I went in to his office the next day and my Blood Pressure was fine and I just was told to keep an eye out for headaches or and unwell feeling.
Week 37
Just been relaxing this week and trying to take it easy. I’ve have been having Braxton hicks on and off but besides that I’m feeling good. Hubby and me have been counting down the sleep till bub is here.

Week 38
Well this is the week our beautiful baby girl will be born. Hubby and me are so excited and have been getting the house clean and tidy ready for the baby.
