When J and B got married in 2005 they
knew that they wanted children in the future. They spent the first 2 ½ years
enjoying married life and strengthening their love for each other. Then came
the time in 2008 were they felt it was time to start a family. Unfortunately
this became a rough road in their lives. It not only was an emotional path for
them but also a long one. However even through the toughest times J and
B supported each other and this in turn strengthened their marriage. After
3 year had past J and B had started to find other goals to pursue
and to their surprise on 28th June 2011 they was surprised with the
most wonderful news. Jill’s pregnancy went by without any trouble and on 21st
February, exactly 2 months ago today, J and B welcomed Alice **** ****** into this world.
Both family and their traditions are very important
to both J and B.
Today Alice is partaking in a very special family
tradition as she wears this gown. B was the first of 10 grandchildren and
4 great grandchildren of his Nana B and Poppa T’s to wear this gown on
their special ceremonies day, and B and J feel honored that Alice
is able to wear it today. The bonnet Alice is wearing today is also very
special as it was the bonnet that J and her sister M wore on their
special ceremonies day as babies. J would also like to acknowledge Alice
middle name ****. As she was named this to not only honor J’s mother who
shares the same middle name but also her departed Nan.
B then read a letter he wrote to Alice.
I now call on J’s mum B and B’s
mum K to come up.
B and J feel that you have been the
most supportive, loving and strong female influential in their lives. They also
believe that you not only play an important part in their lives but you also
play an important part in Alice’s life. Therefore they invite you to stand with
them today to make a promise together to Alice.
Please repeat after me:
We shall do our best to teach you,
but it will be up to you to learn
We shall try to guide you in the right directions,
but it will be up to you to make the right
decisions
We shall also encourage you to seek your own
independence
but it will be up to you to be responsible
We shall teach you about respect,
but you will choose whether to appreciate it's
value
We shall encourage you to try,
but you should want to succeed for yourself
We shall teach you kindness,
but it will be up to you to be good-natured
We shall teach you to share,
but it will be up to you to be unselfish
We shall model values for you.
but you have to develop your own morals
We give you this knowledge as a gift
with all our love.
J and B would like to acknowledge
everyone here today and the special relationships and influences that you have in
their lives. They also acknowledge the special relationship you will have in
Alice’s life also.
Please put your hands together and welcome Alice **** ******.
Just lovely Jill! Well written and very heart-felt indeed.
